Tom Fooshee is one of the most respected wakeboarders in the sport. Not only is one of the top cable riders that is dominating the world rankings, but he is also very current in the boat scene, as he just signed with Axis. Tom is extremely punctual, on and off the water, and is always professional humble… Long story short, he is a great sports man. The first time I met Tom was when he came to judge the first UAE Wakeboard Nationals. I was blown away when I first saw him ride because I never seen anyone so aggressive on the water yet so smooth. After he came to the UAE, not only did he motivate the riders in the UAE he also pushed them to progress their riding in a safe and positive way. – Omeir Saeed
After spending the summer with Tom Fooshee. I have admired Tom from the beginning of my Wakeboarding career. He is one of the most humble people in the sport in my eyes, on and off the water, from learning a trick to meeting him for the first time in person. Tom is always throwing himself out there no matter wheather it’s being the first person on site at a competition or pushing, not only his riding, but every single rider around him; creating progressive riding for every wakeboarder that encounters Tom Fooshee. – Matty Hasler Read the rest of this entry »
In the land of up-and-coming phonemes, Matty Hasler often gets overlooked as an Australian. There’s the James Windsor’s, Harley Clifford’s, Aaron Gunn’s, and Corey Teunissen’s that currently get more coverage than Matty, but, if Matty has anything to do about it, then it won’t be long before the media starts adding his name to that notorious list of astonishing young wakeboarders.
Matty is a twenty-year-old, fun-loving, always positive cable rider from Cairns, AUS. He currently lives with the King of Cable, Tom Fooshee in New Braunfels, USA and has been traveling around the US with fellow ripper and girlfriend, Ange Schriber all summer. They’ve been hitting up as many parks as possible, learning tons of new tricks and adding new grabs to tricks already on lock. It’s like a never-summer, never-ending adventure of progression. He’s definitely one of the favorites coming into Wake Park Worlds in his respected divisions and, oh yea, we forgot to mention that Matty is currently ranked 2nd on both the WWA Wake Park World Series – Pro Men’s and Pro Men’s Features rankings to top it off. From Abu Dhabi, UAE (September 24, 2013) — When the WWA took Amber Wing, Dean Smith and Tom Fooshee over to Al Forsan International Sports Resort for the first ever demos and clinics back in October of 2011, there were few wakeboarders that could, without trouble, make their way around the cable. Fast forward to now and you’ll see riders such as Omeir Saeed, one of those original UAE riders, and you’ll see all sorts of high caliber riding from him.
Since those few days of clinics back in 2011, Omeir Saeed has probably progressed more than any other wakeboarder in the world. He’s now throwing down tricks like 313s, frontside 7s, and technical transfers. It’s going to be super fun at this year’s WWA Wake Park World Championships hosted by Al Forsan International Sports Resort to see how Omeir rides. He’s the local favorite and has definitely spent more time on the water at Al Forsan than any other wakeboarder.
